THE PLIGHT OF THE CHURCH

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

 

       what phase are we in? what hope is there that things will get better in the future? what has gone wrong with the church? Is the church not supposed to be the correction of the wrongs in the society? why then do we have the opposite as the case? Why do we have Ministers antagonizing fellow ministers over petty inconsequential matters? Is the the church coming to an end?

      These are some of the questions troubling many Christians today. Concerned about the plight of the church and the society, they remain troubled by these questions as there seems to be no answers coming forth at all. Taking the case of the Boko Haram insurgency for an example, someone told me most assuredly that if Arch Bishop Benson Andrew Idahosa was to witness this present insurgency, he would have put a stop to it with just a word. As true as this view point is, we still cannot let go of the fact that all that is happening in the church is seasonal. 

      It is true the church has not taken her stand in the society. we've lagged behind for so long a time and allowed the devil take a hold of the society. We've heard of men such as John Knox of whom the queen of Scotland testified; "I fear the prayers of John Knox that the army of Scotland." What was his prayer? "GIVE ME SCOTLAND OR I DIE".  Men such as Saint Patrick of Ireland, John Branham, A.A Allen, Billy Graham, took over their territories during their life time. Without gadgets, Jets and other high tech innovations, they took over countries, causing kings to fear and the hearts of men to be turned towards God. Now, the church is stupendously rich, with assets and all available gadgets and high tech innovations at the very tip of our fingers, yet we have very little impact in our environment. 

Looking at all of these, we should bow or heads in shame. But on the other hand, there is hope steaming from the rising of young people whose hearts are craving to see the kingdom of God advance. When we hear of Churches such as; THE REBUILDER'S HOUSE (T.R.H; Pst. Favour Sule) and ministries such as, KOINONIA (Apostle Joshua Selman), our hearts are gladdened. There are several other ministries and churches geared towards the same course. We must therefore hold our heads up high and prepare ourselves for the move that's brewing in the realm of the spirit. For there's about to come, the fulfillment of Joel 2:1- 32.
